Gearbloom is a turn-based deckbuilding roguelike set in a greenhouse that runs on gears. The Rust is spreading bed by bed, and your deck is the only thing holding it back. Each turn you draw cards, spend water to play them, and watch the Rust answer — every enemy shows its next move before it lands, so every turn is a small puzzle of block, strike and sacrifice.

Between beds you choose the shape of your run: take a card from a choice of three, rest to heal, or visit the smith to permanently upgrade a card. Sixteen cards, five rust creatures and three acts stand between the seedling beds and the Rust Engine, and no two runs grow the same garden.

Runs last fifteen to twenty minutes and end one of two ways: the Engine falls and Night Bloom joins your future runs, or the Rust takes the bed and you plant again with everything you learned. Your deepest run and gardens saved are remembered.

How to play Gearbloom

  • Click a card to play it. Attacks strike the targeted enemy, skills defend and grow, powers last all run.
  • Each turn you have three water (energy). Hover a card to see exactly what it does; click an enemy to retarget.
  • Enemies telegraph their next move above their head. End your turn with E or the END TURN button to let the Rust act.
  • After each battle pick a new card, then follow the map through three acts to the Rust Engine boss.

Tips & strategy

Gearbloom is won on defence. Block is not wasted water — an attack fully blocked is an attack that never touches your HP pool.

  • Read the intent, not the enemy. If the Rust Engine shows a defend turn, that is your window to stack powers and powers only cost water once.
  • Vulnerable multiplies everything. Pollinate first, then spend your turn on the biggest single hit you hold.
  • Do not draft five attacks. A deck that can only kill cannot survive act two — aim for roughly one defensive card per two attackers.
  • Upgrading a starter card at the smith beats taking a mediocre new one. An upgraded Snip hits for nine, not six, forever.
  • Thorns punishes multi-hit bosses. The Engine hits three times a turn — each hit feeds your own damage back.
  • Rest sites are heal-or-upgrade, never both. If you are above half HP, take the smith; the run only gets longer from here.
