Reaction Duel

Reaction Duel is a two-player reflex contest with one rule: do not press early. The arena stays dark for a random delay between 1.4 and 4 seconds, then turns green. The first player to press after green wins the round.

Pressing before green is a false start, and the round goes to the opponent. That single penalty turns the game into a test of patience as much as speed — the fastest player loses if they anticipate.

P1 uses A, P2 uses L, or each player taps their half of the arena. First to five rounds wins the match.

How to play Reaction Duel

• Wait for the arena to turn green.
• P1 presses A; P2 presses L (or tap your half of the arena).
• The first press after green wins the round.
• Pressing before green gives the round to your opponent. First to five wins.

Tips & strategy

Reaction duels are won by the player who waits, not the player who twitches first.

• Rest your finger lightly on the key; tension slows reaction time.
• Focus on the colour change, not on a countdown — there is no predictable rhythm.
• Do not anticipate. A false start costs the entire round, which is a much bigger loss than 50 ms.
• Breathe out as you wait; holding your breath makes you jump earlier.
• After a false start, reset completely — frustration produces another early press.
• At match point, wait even longer. The opponent is more likely to crack first.
