Memory Match
Works with keyboard and touch. Original PlayBolt game

Memory Match is the card game every childhood road trip had a version of. Cards are shuffled face-down; flip two at a time and keep them if they match.

The first few pairs are easy. The challenge is holding a mental map of a dozen positions while the board fills with half-known cards, and resisting the urge to flip a card you have already seen.

A calm, replayable brain warm-up with a move counter that quietly judges you.

How to play Memory Match

  • Click a card to flip it face-up.
  • Flip a second card — if the two match, they stay revealed.
  • If they do not match, both flip back after a short delay.
  • Clear every pair to win. Fewer moves is better.

Tips & strategy

Memory Match is about encoding positions, not flipping quickly. A slow, systematic run beats a fast, random one every time.

  • Flip in a fixed pattern — left to right, top to bottom — so you always know which cards you have already seen.
  • Name the card and its position mentally (for example, rocket, second row right) to make it stick.
  • When you find a pair, note the cards next to it; neighbouring positions are easiest to recall later.
  • Use the short delay after a mismatch to re-scan the board instead of waiting idle.
  • Group icons by row rather than by type; spatial memory is stronger than list memory.
  • Fewer moves is the only score that matters here — there is no timer, so think before flipping.
